- Delaying the foreclosure of a $5 million mortgage debt to a major bank on a shopping center for a limited partnership and its general partners while negotiating a structured work-out releasing the general and limited partners of any obligation, retaining the partnership's management in place at the shopping center, and granting the partnership the option to redeem the project at a price substantially less than the outstanding debt.

MAJOR LITIGATION

- The Firm successfully obtained a seven-figure resolution in an arbitration by a minority shareholder against a well-known, closely held Twin Cities business.
- The Firm successfully obtained a seven-figure payment in a lawsuit by a minority shareholder against twenty-two related business entities and a dozen individual defendants who were represented by three different law firms.
- The Firm obtained a sizable recovery for a group of eight women with regard to medical malpractice claims in northern Minnesota.
- The Firm litigated and settled a federal lawsuit involving the purchase of millions of dollars of assets of a New Jersey-based company and its Texas subsidiary by a Minnesota-based company.
- The Firm successfully defended a labor union, an employer association, and a joint apprenticeship program against claims by former apprentices that the defendants violated state drug testing laws.
- The Firm recovered hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages for a California-based restaurant in a trademark and trade-dress dispute in which the Firm's client was originally the defendant.
- The Firm achieved a favorable settlement of ERISA claims on behalf of a group of 27 former employees of LTV Steel in Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota.
- The Firm has recently represented companies in dozens of commercial disputes involving multiple plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal court, including large computer contract disputes, distributor litigation, patent disputes, and trade secrets cases, among others.

- Obtaining a record $19 million settlement in class action litigation for purchasers of term life insurance policies illegally sold by regulated loan companies. Hohn v. ITT Financial Services.
- Achieving a judgment of $32 million on behalf of Minnesota consumers charged excessive interest for rent-to-own purchases. Fogie v. Rent-A-Center.
- Successfully representing the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in obtaining a settlement on a bond claim for funds misappropriated by a bank officer. FDIC v. BancInsure.
- Securing large damage awards for hundreds of women in a class action against Minnesota law firm that breached its fiduciary obligations in connection with the Dalkon Shield IUD claims. Klein v. Perl.
- Securing access for the media and public to investigate reports of improprieties in the University of Minnesota Athletic Department and the University Police Department. Minnesota Daily v. University of Minnesota.
- Successfully represented Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC) in obtaining an aggregate settlement in excess of $5 million. RTC v. Hitchcock Industries.
- Developing a confidential privilege for health care professionals in connection with group therapy sessions. State v. Andring.
- Invalidating a city ordinance imposing unconstitutional requirements on dog owners. American Dog Owners Association v. City of Minneapolis.
- Securing public access to publicly funded experimental health and science records. ARC v. University of Minnesota.

- Winning a liability trial verdict and securing a $500,000 recovery for a light globe manufacturing company exploited by a Fortune 500 corporation. IBAC Corp. v. Philips Corp.
