Jeffrey C. O’Brien, a senior associate of the firm, has been named a Minnesota Super Lawyer “Rising Star” for 2008 by Minnesota Law & Politics Magazine, a designation reserved for only 2.5 percent of all attorneys in Minnesota.

On May 30-31, 2007, Marshall H. Tanick gave a presentation entitled "Privacy 101," at the Annual Upper Midwest Employment Law Institute, sponsored by Minnesota CLE. Mr.Tanick's presentation focused on privacy rights of employees in the workplace, including vignettes about real-life cases in which he has been involved.

In June 2007, Jeffrey C. O’Brien was elected to the Board of Directors of the Towne Lakes Traditional Homes Homeowners Association in Albertville, Minnesota.  He also serves as Secretary to the Board and liason to the Towne Lakes Community Association.

Jeffrey C. O’Brien has been appointed to a citizens exploratory committee for the City of Albertville, Minnesota.  The committee is charged with exploring the possibility of development of a citywide wireless internet system.

Jeffrey C. O’Brien served as an instructor for Minnesota Multi Housing Association (MHA) on July 24, 2007 for “Evictions:  Are You Prepared?” in Litchfield, Minnesota.  Mr. O’Brien is a member of MHA, an organization devoted to issues of concern to the multi-housing industry.  He also serves on MHA’s Professional Education Committee.

On August 8, 2007, Jeffrey C. O’Brien presented the topic “Landlord Rights and Options When the Deal Goes Bad” for a seminar in Minneapolis, Minnesota entitled “Landlord-Tenant Law in Minnesota”, sponsored by Sterling Education Services.

Marshall H. Tanick and Jeffrey C. O’Brien have authored an article, “Tips & Traps Dealing With Pets”,  which appears in the Fall 2007 CIC Midwest News, the newsletter of CIC Midwest, an organization consisting of professionals in the condominium/townhome industry.  Mr. O’Brien is a member of CIC Midwest and serves on the organization’s Publications Committee, Education Committee and Planning Committee.

On August 14, 2007, Gregory M. Miller and Jeffrey C. O’Brien participated in the Minnesota Multi-Housing Association Annual Golf Tournament at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Ham Lake, Minnesota.

On August 23, 2007, Earl H. Cohen and Jeffrey C. O’Brien participated in the 2007 Paul Adelman Charity Golf Tournament at Edinburgh Golf Course in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.

On August 23, 2007, Marshall H. Tanick made his annual presention at Thomson University, reviewing the past year of decisions by the U.S. Supreme Court in employment law cases. The program was part of a seminar reviewing decisions of the High Court during its past term, which was presented at the headquarters of West Publications in Eagan, Minnesota.

In September, 2007, Marshall H. Tanick was a guest on the Jason Lewis Talk Radio program at KTLK 100.3 FM. Mr. Tanick discussed a variety of subjects, including recent Constitutional cases in which he is currently involved, highlighted by the class action refunds for people ticketed under the invalid "photo cop" traffic control system in Minneapolis.

In September, 2007, Marshall H. Tanick gave a Continuing Legal Education presentation entitled "How to Prepare Your Client (and Others) for Deposition."  The program was made as part of a day-long program entitled "Effective Deposition Techniques," sponsored by Lorman Education Services.

On September 13, 2007, Marshall H. Tanick spoke at a presentation on the subject of "dog bite" cases: "Rights and Rites," to the Animal Law Section of the Hennepin County Bar Association. His presentation offered suggestions to attorneys handling dog bite cases on behalf of claimants and dog owners.

On September 14, 2007, Jeffrey C. O’Brien and his wife, Jennifer, attended the Minnesota Multi Housing Association’s 2007 MADACS Awards banquet in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Jeffrey C. O’Brien has been named to serve on the Minnesota Multi Housing Association’s Legal Committee.

On September 18, 2007, Jeffrey C. O’Brien moderated a seminar entitled “Commercial and Real Estate Loan Documents in Minnesota:  More Than Just Papers”, in Bloomington, Minnesota, sponsored by Lorman Education Services.  Mr. O’Brien also presented the topics “Due Diligence”, “Mechanics Liens and Mortgage Foreclosures”, and “Title and Survey Issues.”

On October 6, 2007, Marshall H. Tanick served as auctioneer at a live auction conducted by the Minnesota Jewish Theater Company in celebration of its 13th anniversary. The auction was part of a dinner conducted at Temple of Aaron Synagogue in St. Paul, which followed a special "B'nai Mitzvah" celebration of the organization's 13th birthday.

On October 10, 2007, Jeffrey C. O’Brien presented the topics “Risk Management”, “Lease Exit Strategies” and “Default of Lease Contract” for a seminar in Bloomington, Minnesota entitled “Drafting Commercial Real Estate Leases:  The Ins and Outs of Protecting Your Interests”, sponsored by National Business Institute.

On October 13, 2007, Marshall H. Tanick coordinated a meeting of the Golden Valley "Bridge Builders" at the Courage Center in Golden Valley. The group consists of individuals in Golden Valley who help organize and participate in civic activities. The fall meeting included a discussion of ongoing projects, presentation by a Courage Center volunteer about the organization, and a tour of the facility in Golden Valley.

On October 16, 2007, Jeffrey C. O’Brien presents the topic “Rental Issues in CICs, Part I:  Legal Issues” at the 2007 Fall Convention of the Minnesota Multi-Housing Association.

On October 24, 2007, Earl H. Cohen and Jeffrey C. O’Brien present an all-day seminar entitled “The Greatest Estate Planning Techniques in Minnesota” in Bloomington, Minnesota, sponsored by Lorman Education Services.

On November 7, 2007, Jeffrey C. O’Brien presents the topic “Significant Drafting Issues Specific to Commercial Leases” for a seminar in Minneapolis, Minnesota entitled “Drafting and Enforcing Commercial Leases”, sponsored by Sterling Education Services.

Marshall H. Tanick was a guest on the Steele Talking program on WCCO Radio, 830 AM. He discussed a number of legal issues witth the moderator, Jeralyn Steele, including issues relating to the I-35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis, white collar crime, and other mattters.
