Bert Black Joins Mansfield Tanick & Cohen as "Of Counsel"
Mansfield Tanick & Cohen is pleased to announce that Bert Black has joined the Firm as its newest "Of Counsel." Bert has been in the active practice of law for over twenty-five years, mostly as a litigator, since he received his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1982. Before that, Bert attained his B.S. & M.S. in Civil Engineering, worked as a Civil Engineer for four years and still is a registered Professional Engineer in Maryland. He has been licensed to practice law in Maryland, Georgia, Texas, Minnesota and the District of Columbia, as well as before the USPTO as a Patent Attorney.
Bert has handled a wide array of areas, including environmental and products liability cases, commercial litigation involving real estate, securities fraud, anti-trust matters, bankruptcy adversary proceedings and legal and accounting malpractice. For the last several years, he has work with and managed expert testimony in mass toxic drug liability matters. At his last firm, he managed such expert testimony for the plaintiffs in the Vioxx and Baikal mass torts litigation. Bert is widely recognized for his work in cases with complex scientific, technical or financial issues. He has published numerous articles in these areas; represented amici in the U.S. Supreme Court in the seminal Daubert appeal, and was the Chair of the ABA Section of Science & Technology in 1996-1997.
