MSBA CERTIFIES MT&C ATTORNEY AS REAL PROPERTY LAW SPECIALIST

The Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA) announced that attorney Jeffrey C. O'Brien of Mansfield Tanick & Cohen, P.A., has been certified as a real property law specialist. Specialist certification refers to an attorney who has completed a rigorous approval process in addition to passing the Bar exam, to establish full qualification for reliable experience and skills as a legal specialist in a specific legal area. • Attorneys Gregory Miller and Brian Niemczyk prevailed on behalf of a small real estate developer client in a recent jury trial in Hennepin County District Court. MTC was defending its client against a lawsuit filed by its civil engineer for alleged non-payment of amounts claimed to be owed on the parties' agreement. The disputes centered on the nature of the parties' verbal agreement and the quality of the wetland-related civil engineering work performed by the plaintiff. After three days of testimony, the jury ultimately awarded the plaintiff only a small fraction of what it claimed to be owed.

• Mansfield Tanick & Cohen has recently become a sponsor of the WCCO Real Estate Radio Hour. The program, which airs every Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., features Jason Walgrave and Ryan Yardley, of Walgrave & Yardley Real Estate Group (a client of the firm) and guest appearances from a variety of industry specialists.
