Mansfield Tanick & Cohen Names Newest Shareholder

Mansfield Tanick & Cohen is pleased to announce that Jeffrey C. O'Brien has been named a shareholder of the firm.

O'Brien, who practices in the areas of business transactions, real estate law and estate planning/probate, joined MT&C in December 2004, having spent the prior four years at a small suburban firm.

Mr. O'Brien has dealt with a diverse array of businesses and business owners in his practice including real estate developers and investors, restaurant operators, manufacturing companies, franchised businesses, financial advisors and insurance agents and members of the entertainment industry. He has significant experience with the formation of new businesses and he has been heavily involved in the Mansfield Tanick & Cohen INCubation Center®, a program designed to provide new and developing businesses with the essential legal services in their formative years, since its inception in February 2007.

Mr. O'Brien attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. and graduated with honors in 1997 with a bachelor of science in manufacturing engineering as a member of the first class of students to graduate with such a degree. He received his juris doctor with honors from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minn. in 2000 and is admitted to practice in the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin as well as the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.

In addition to his client work, Mr. O'Brien is a frequent author and lecturer on a wide variety of legal topics and he is a member of the Minnesota Multi-Housing Association, CIC Midwest, the Minnesota Association for Guardianship and Conservatorship, the Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce and his neighborhood homeowners association. He also serves on the board of directors of the American Association of Microbusinesses and as the firm's marketing director.

He was named to Minnesota Law & Politics' "2008 Rising Stars" list, a distinction awarded to only 2.5 percent of Minnesota attorneys. In June 2008, he was certified by the Minnesota State Bar Association as a real property law specialist.
