Seymour Mansfield to be Honored at 2009 Law Day Dinner
Mansfield Tanick & Cohen is pleased to announce that The Fund for the Legal Aid Society has selected founding shareholder Seymour J. Mansfield as its 2009 honoree for the Annual Law Day Testimonial Dinner on May 7, 2009. Legal advocacy in pursuit of social justice for the poor and disadvantaged has been Seymour's lifelong and deepest commitment. In being honored by The Fund, Seymour joins past honorees, such as Douglas Amdahl, Bernie Becker, Bruce Blackburn, Laurie Davison, Hyman Edelman, Jim Hale, Doug Hall, Sandy Keith, Walter Mondale, Jerry Rotman, Alan Saeks, Clint Schroeder, Roger Stageberg, and Rosalie Wahl, among others honored, since Seymour helped establish the Fund in 1981. Those honorees set the bar very high--all were extraordinary citizen lawyers who have truly made a difference and been role models for all of us. In attendance and money raised, The Fund's Law Day Dinner is the biggest annual Minnesota legal event, with over 1,000 tickets sold and over $200,000 raised each year to support the Legal Aid Society of Minneapolis. As the Society's past Executive Director, Seymour well knows the national renown and excellence it has attained as the primary provider of free civil legal services to poor and disadvantaged persons in Hennepin County, and to people with disabilities statewide, in areas such as housing, family, consumer, health and income, and the special legal problems faced by seniors and the physically and mentally disabled. Seymour's colleagues at Mansfield Tanick & Cohen congratulate him on this extraordinary honor, applaud his deep values of "giving back to the community," and very much appreciate working with him at the Firm as a Litigation Partner, Super Lawyer, mentor and role model for our profession. |
