Attorney Profiles

Andrew J. Dawkins is Of Counsel to the firm, practicing in the areas of divorce mediation, family law, local government representation, legislative relations, business and consumer law.  Mr. Dawkins encourages calls on any legal matter given his 25 years of experience as both a lawyer and a legislator.  Mr. Dawkins has represented tenants and landlords, small businesses, families and individuals in estate planning, real estate transacting, divorces, personal injury and civil rights.  As a State Representative in the Minnesota Legislature from 1987 to 2002, Mr. Dawkins wrote laws reducing the points of conflict in child custody cases and increasing the powers of municipal governments to make neighborhoods safe and livable.  From 2002 to 2006 Mr. Dawkins was Director of Neighborhood Improvement for the City of Saint Paul, successfully implementing many of the laws he wrote.  Now that he has re-entered the private practice of law, he wants to (1) bring this success to other local governments, (2) take full advantage of the laws he wrote to make divorcing less acrimonious and better for kids, and (3) help Mansfield Tanick & Cohen establish a presence on University Avenue in Saint Paul, representing small businesses.

Mr. Dawkins is licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota, is a Qualified Neutral under Rule 114 of the Minnesota Rules of General Practice and serves as a part-time Child Support Magistrate for Hennepin County.
